Hello, we are Cleaver Repair!
We are a repair network that aims to improve your user experience of technical products by making repairing them a swift and effortless endeavor. By doing this we also aim to help the environment by preventing overconsumption
Our motives:
In the last five years, the amount of e-waste has increased by 21 percent.
We at Cleaver Repair believe that it is more important than ever that we reuse as many devices as possible. Currently we are wasting so many resources due to planned obsolescence in consumer electronics. This has an extremely negative impact on the environment, because we mine more resources and emit more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere just to produce products that replace others that are planned to fail. We only have one planet and we want to preserve it, by living sustainably, we will have to change how we “consume” products.
From our view the best way to solve this is by moving away from consumerism. We can archive this by reusing and repairing devices. No longer treating them as a single use product.
Why repair and not recycle?
In popular media you will always find reports that will tell you that the solution for sustainable consumption is to recycle. However the three Rs of sustainability are in this order: ”Reduce, Reuse, Recycle”. Even though recycling is necessary it is the last thing we should do and in recent years it is has become very clear that recycling isn’t been done very effectively.
In 2019 only 17.4% of all electrical devices get recycled once they’ve been discarded, this means that over 80% of all electrical devices end up filling landfills.
Additionally, deconstructing functional devices will not help anyone. By repairing devices we can reduce consumption by preventing a purchase and we effectively reuse functional components that are in the device.
This is a world wide issue, everyone needs to participate in a more sustainable lifestyle so that we can ensure that the planet is still habitable for future generations.
The future of repair:
Currently we are nothing more but a humble repair network. Linking you to the nearest repair professional in your area, whom specializes in repairing your device.
However we do have ambitious goals for the future of repair!
Our goal is to make the decision of repairing your device a no-brainer by fully automating it! Most devices are constructed by machines after all, why shouldn’t they be able to repair them?
